1st Annual 'Music is Important' Golf Outing a Huge Success!!!
On Friday, August 15th the Lake Central Band Boosters held their 1st Annual 'Music is Important' Golf Outing at Whitehawk Country Club in Crown Point, Indiana.
Sixty golfers attended the event and enjoyed beautiful weather, a magnificent golf course, great food, and great fun. The event kicked off with the golfers signing in at 11:30 a.m. and they were then treated to an outrageously delicious lunch prepared by Jeff Seapan (daughter: Brittney) which included Barbecue Pork or Chicken sandwiches with chips and soda.
After lunch the golfers were escorted to their respective starting holes and the golfing commenced. As the crazy photographer rode around the course taking pictures it was clearly evident that it was going to be a wonderful day of golf. The golfers seemed to agree. On three of the par three holes there were prizes to be won should a golfer record a hole in one on that given hole. Crete Harley Davidson of Crete, Illinois donated a 2008 Harley Davidson Sporster in the event that a golfer made a hole in one. On another Par three hole, Schepel Buick donated a years lease on a new Buick and on yet another Par three hole Omni 41 donated a years membership to their facility. It provided some real excitement to the outing as the golfers trying their darndest to achieve a hole in one. Probably one of the more interesting moments came when Caroline Foltman, who was a student volunteer on the hole with the Schepel Buick car, asked her dad Ron, gee-whiz dad, is that going to be my car? while giving a sheepish grin. Ron gave it his all by putting his drive about 20 feet from the hole but sorry Caroline, not this time...
After the round was finished the golfers returned to the banquet facility at Whitehawk and enjoyed a feast put together
by the fine staff at Whitehawk Country Club. While dinner was going on prizes were awarded for Longest Drive and Closest
to the Pin and finally the award for the Winning Foursome. This year the winning foursome won another round of golf
at the Beautiful Whitehawk Country Club, donated by Whitehawk. The Lake Central Band Boosters thank them for their

They recorded a round of 64, eight under par! Congratulations to Paul and the rest of team Karwatka.
We'd like to thank a bunch of people so lets begin by thanking Whitehawk Country Club for providing us with an unbelievable day of golf and fun. Their generosity and support of the Lake Central Bands Program goes above and beyond every time we work with them. We'd especially like to thank Mark Dejarlis (former band dad, son: Nick DeJarlis) for always being there to support the band when we knock on his door.
We'd like to thank Crete Harley Davidson for benig so generous with their donation of a Motorcycle should a hole in one take place at their hole. It provided excitement to the day that couldn't be denied.
We'd like to also thank Schepel Buick for supplying a years lease on a new Buick should a hole in one occur on their hole. The same is true here, it simply provided such excitement to the day.
To Omni 41, thank you for your kind and generous support of the program, your hole in one prize provided excitement to the group as well and made for an extremely enjoyable time.
We'd like to thank all of the volunteers who helped before during and after the event but especially folks like Mark Lareau, Jeff Seapan, Leo Lazaroff, Paul Karwatka, Lisa Schulz, and Ann Hyzy. All of you helped make the outing a really special day. THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU!
The students played a key role as well and we'd like to thank them for spending the entire day with us to help promote and help make the event a huge success, thanks to Caroline Foltman, Kayla Mills, Krista Gallatin, Matt Smith, Brian Karwatka, and Marisa Lareau. You helped provide the reason why all of these fine folks came out to support the program. You're all a credit to the program!

Finally, I'd personally like to send out a HUGE THANK YOU! to Ron and Bev Foltman, our co-chairpersons for this years event. I know I get up and preach to the parents about the need to step up and get involved. How truly important and special doing so really is. Ron and Bev led the way with this fundraiser, they are freshman parents and deserve our gratitude for their efforts. Getting a new fundraiser off the ground is a monumental task and they did it with grace, dedication, and excellence that cannot be properly described. Ron and Bev, I so appreciate all of you've done for the program over the last couple of months - THANK YOU!
I know I've probably missed folks to thank but please accept my gratitude for anyone who remotely worked on this fundraiser over the last couple of months. You made a difference no matter how small or large the participation and we THANK YOU!
So it is on to next year, we've already reserved a date for the 2nd Annual 'Music is Important' Golf Outing so mark your calendars for Friday, June 26th, 2009. It will once again be held at Whitehawk Country Club and we expect it to be bigger, badder, and better in 2009! Come out and join in, you won't regret it!
